About

Cornwall Carers Service (CCS) is a collaborative partnership between four organisations; Cornwall Rural Community Council (CRCC) is commissioned by Cornwall Council and Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Health Authority as the lead organisation.

The partners involved are;

  • Carers Rights who bring expertise in helping people dealing with learning disabilities
  • Age Concern Cornwall who bring expertise in running help lines, advocacy and support services
  • Disability Cornwall who bring expertise in supporting all people disadvantaged through disability

Cornwall Carers Service has been set up to offer support, information and guidance to informal and unpaid carers across Cornwall.  Commissioned from April this year it is an evolving service with a timetabled roll out for the service to be fully implemented in April 2012.

The previous well known and respected CRCC Carer Support Worker project managed by Monica Thomas came to an end in September; however we are pleased to say all the support workers and Monica are now part of the new service.  Monica will be leading the support workers team until we recruit new team leaders from next April.

Amongst the partnership we already have a dedicated Forum and Events co-ordinator, and specialist support workers including, learning disabilities, autism and young adult carers. By April 2012 we will have dementia specialist support workers and a Black Minority Ethnic specialist support worker.

We are in the process of developing this Website, and we would welcome carer input.  James Hood the recent Chair of the Carers Partnership Board has already provided some valuable feedback which has helped to shape the website.

We hope you find the website useful and we will be working hard to ensure it is a valuable and meaningful resource for Carers across Cornwall.
