Everyone needs time to rest - including you
Caring for someone you love is one of the most important things you can do. But it's also one of the most demanding. That's why we've created the STAR Project (Supporting Time Away and Respite) - to help you take the breaks you need and deserve.
What is the STAR Project?
STAR (Supporting Time Away and respite) provides funding for short-notice respite care, giving you essential time to rest and recharge. We know that caring doesn't stop, which is why we've made it easier to arrange quality care for your loved one so you can step away for a bit.
Your respite options
Residential respite
Your loved one can stay in an approved care home for up to one week, receiving professional support in a safe environment
Home-based respite
Arrange shorter breaks with home care or sitting services, so your loved one stays comfortable at home while you have time to yourself
Am I eligible?
You can access STAR if you're an unpaid carer and you're not currently receiving any other respite support from Adult Social Care. That’s it. If that describes your situation, we’re here to help!
