A Message from Us and Our Partners on Carers Week

Jayne Price
Care and Prevention Manager at Cornwall Carers Service

Many of us at Cornwall Carers Service come with a lived experience of being a carer for a loved one. Together, myself and the team wanted to share a message of solidarity and acknowledgement of each and every carer in Cornwall this week for Carers Week but also for every other day of the year, particularly if you feel unseen and unsupported.

However you came to be in a caring role for a friend, a family member or a loved one, your role as a carer is vital. At Cornwall Carers Service, we are committed to ensuring your voices are heard and that you receive the support and recognition you deserve. We would like to reach out to you during Carers Week 2025 with a heartfelt message:

We know how tough it can be; the long days, and sleepless nights, the emotional and physical toll being a carer takes. But, we also know the deep love and commitment that drives us to care for our loved ones each and every day. We want you to know that we see you. We see the sacrifices you make, the strength you show and the incredible care you provide. Your dedication and compassion are the heart of our community, and you are truly valued.

At Cornwall Carers Service, we are working every day and in our every action to bring focus to the carer agenda across health, social care, and within our amazing Cornish communities. We are committed to ensuring that your voices are heard and that you receive the support and recognition you deserve. Our goal is to foster support and contribute to a society where unpaid carers are not just acknowledged, but celebrated for the vital role they play.

Thank you for everything you do. Your resilience and kindness make a difference, and together, we will continue to advocate for a fairer and more supportive environment for all carers.

Cllr Jim McKenna
Cabinet lead for Adult Social Care and Health at Cornwall Council

“We are extremely grateful for the hard work that unpaid carers undertake every day to support a loved one, friend or neighbour. I’d like to encourage all unpaid carers get in touch with Cornwall Carers Service to make sure they are getting all the support they are entitled to to help make life a little easier. I’d like to pass on my deep gratitude to them all. Were it not for their dedication and commitment to helping care for loved ones the health and care system would struggle to cope.”
