ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
Simple activities, backed by Carers UK
What it involves
From 22 June, you receive seven themed activities over a fortnight, from herbal tea breaks and flower arranging to wildlife watching and growing microgreens. Each one takes as little as two minutes and as long as twenty, so it genuinely fits around a caring day.
Why it helps carers
63% of carers say their role reduces how much they can move or exercise. Time in nature — even briefly — helps reduce stress, lift mood and improve physical wellbeing. This programme is specifically shaped for people whose own needs often come last.
ACTIVITY IDEAS
Need a little inspiration?
Here are some popular choices from carers across Cornwall — but you're absolutely not limited to these. If it brings you happiness, it counts.
🌿
Green Haven
Create a small restorative corner, a windowsill, a chair by the garden, anywhere that feels like yours.
🌱
Plant Appreciation
Slow down and notice what's growing around you. An exercise in attention and calm.
🐝
Wildlife Station
Notice what's living alongside you. A window, a garden corner, or a park bench all count.
🫖
Herbal Tea Break
Brew something green and take five minutes to yourself. Simple, but often the thing carers skip first.
🌸
Flower Arranging
A gentle creative activity using whatever you can find, picked, bought, or even drawn.
🌾
Growing Microgreens
Sow seeds on a windowsill and watch something grow. The free seed packet helps you get started.
👂
Sound Walk
Step outside and just listen. A grounding practice that needs nothing but five minutes and open ears.

"Caring is life changing and rewarding but it is also incredibly tough at times. I find gardening really helpful for my mental health, it's a nice activity to do which isn't about me being a carer.
